Global legal practice Norton Rose Fulbright announces the strategic move of London head of real estate disputes partner Charlotte Bijlani to its office in Dubai, expanding its disputes practice in the Middle East. The move is effective from April 2014.

Patrick Bourke, head of Middle East dispute resolution and the Dubai DIFC office, comments, “We are delighted that Charlotte will be joining us in Dubai and building on our existing strong disputes platform. Charlotte’s role in the Middle East will enable us to further capitalise on the increasing trend and appetite we are seeing for dispute resolution expertise in the region.”

David Stevens will join the London team as a disputes partner specialising in contentious real estate. David joins from Maples Teesdale, where he was a partner. David was previously an associate at Norton Rose Fulbright from 1996 to 2004.

Deirdre Walker, head of dispute resolution and litigation, Europe, Middle East and Asia, comments, “We look forward to welcoming David back to the team, his broad experience in real estate disputes will contribute to the continued recognition of the London practice. Charlotte’s role in the Middle East and David’s appointment in London will add further depth to our global dispute resolution and litigation practice.”

The Legal 500 stated in 2013 that Norton Rose Fulbright’s real estate disputes team “continues to attract eye-catching instructions, including advising Malaysian developer SP Setia Berhad on various contentious matters arising from its £400m acquisition of Battersea Power Station.”

Norton Rose Fulbright’s dispute resolution and litigation practice comprises over 1000 lawyers globally.
