Linksys will demonstrate during the techno fair several new networking products that will help increase the reliability and comfort in wireless connection of homes and offices.
“The phenomenal growth of wireless market in the region signifies the advanced level of technology use here in the Middle East. We predict this is the trend which will soon dominate the technology sector, given the comforts and flexibility it offers to small businesses and home users,”
said, Mohammad Hoda, Regional Manager for Middle East & Africa.
Home users will be treated to a range of wireless-N products, a networked entertainment system and wireless video cameras for home protection while small offices will have the privilege to view the latest in wireless telephony and VoIP solutions.
The range of Wireless N products which was launched and made available recently in the UAE are Wireless-N Gateway (WAG300N), Broadband Router (WRT300N) and Notebook Adapter (WPC300N), built to the 802.11n Draft Specification.
The Wireless-N products are capable of delivering wireless networks with the capacity to surf the web, enjoy multiple streams of high definition video, listen to digital music collections and make Internet phone calls – all at the same time at four times the speed and 12 times the throughput of Wireless G* products.
“The booming technology sector benefits from the economic growth performance in the region. Many home users especially in the UAE have the capacity to enjoy an affordable range these new market offerings,” continued Hoda.
Apart from the Wireless N products, Linksys will also exhibit its latest home entertainment system, the DP-600 High definition Media Player, which is designed to provide consumers with the highest quality picture and sound. In addition to WMV-9 compatibility the DP-600 offers, DivX, Nero Digital, MP3 and WMA playback. The cable-free DVD player is equipped with a built-in WLAN 802.11g connection, which can access an online selection of more than 3,000 radio stations, and various other online features on the Internet or content on the home PC.
Linksys is also introducing its latest innovation, the CIT300, a dual-mode Internet telephony kit with Skype support. Dual-Mode capability allows options to make calls over a standard telephone line or with the Skype application running on PC, just like making an ordinary phone call on a handset.
For home protection, Linksys’ Compact Wireless-G Internet Video Camera (WVC54GC) will showcase live in the GITEX booth, its ability to send live video through the Internet to a web browser anywhere in the world. Unlike standard “web cams” that require an attached PC, the Internet Video Camera contains its own web server, so it can connect directly to a network, either over Wireless-G (802.11g) networking, or over 10/100 Ethernet cable. The advanced MPEG-4 video compression produces a high-quality, high-frame rate, up to 320×240 video stream.
Meanwhile, a new line of Linksys Voice System (LVS) will provide a complete IP telephony system for small businesses. This system includes an IP PBX/Key system SPA9000, a wide range of IP desktop phones, an Analog Gateway for connection to the Public Switched Telephone Network and a selection of authorized Internet Telephone Service Provider (ITSP) offerings for the Value Added Reseller (VAR) or small business to choose from. Used together with an ITSP voice service, the LVS 9000 provides a complete IP telephony system for small businesses with up to 16 users.
“With the high level of awareness among technology users in the region and the flourishing small businesses in the region, this is a great opportunity to maximise the use of wireless networking in helping businesses grow and eventually enjoy mainstream following. Linksys has maintained the leadership in detecting the future of cable-free systems and the products they produce always look into the value it will serve to the customers,” added Hoda.
The LVS range of IP Desktop Phones on the other hand, provides a wide variety of phone options for small businesses. With choices of one or two Ethernet ports, 1, 2, or 4 extensions, optional Power over Ethernet functionality, or a durable no-display model, these telephones work with all SIP-based IP Telephony solutions.
Linksys will also display the power of SPA9000, when used with Linksys IP desktop phones. This feature allows the phones to install in minutes, automatically configuring themselves with business features set by the service provider. With an optional Wireless-G Phone Bridge (WPB54G) users can install phones in hard-to-reach places without running cables.
Home and office users can look forward to the WIP330, a Wireless-G IP Phone which enables high-quality voice over IP (VoIP) service through a Wireless-G network and high-speed Internet connection. This technology maximizes the use of low-cost VoIP and the wireless connectivity. The handset features peer-to-peer dialing, speed dial, 3-way conferencing, call waiting, call transfer, and call forward, mute, hold and selectable ringtones.
Finally, the WVCC200, the Linksys Wireless-G Pan/Tilt/Zoom Video Camera sends live video through the Internet to a web browser anywhere in the world. The advanced MPEG-4 video compression produces a high-quality, high-framerate, up to 640×480 video stream. MPEG-4 encoding facilitates good video quality in varying bandwidth environments. WVC200 also supports MJPEG compression for video, providing good video quality at high bandwidth rates.
