Royal Caribbean, one of the world’s best luxury cruise ships, recently announced that it will return to the Gulf seas in the winter of 2015 and 2016.

The company is planning to provide a total of 16 round-trip sailings from December 2015 to March 2016, which will include some of the Arabian coast’s most intriguing destinations on a seven-night itinerary. Royal Caribbean’s majestic Splendour of the Seas is scheduled to dock in the homeport of Dubai, followed by calls to Abu Dhabi, Muscat and Khasab.

“Following on from positive and collaborative discussions with our key partners in the region, we are pleased to announce our return to cruising in the Arabian Gulf region in the winter of 2015 and 2016. We are looking forward to deploying Splendour of the Seas, one of our vision-class vessels, to the region for the first time and to welcome guests from all over the world,” says Helen Beck, regional director of international representatives EMEA at Royal Caribbean International.

Voyageurs aboard the luxury ship can expect a variety of fine-dining and casual restaurants, such as the Asian-inspired Izumi; the line’s signature steakhouse, Chops Grille; the popular hotdog counter, Boardwalk Dog House; a deli-style restaurant, Park Café; and, the exclusive chef’s table dining experience. For an à la carte experience, passengers will be invited to the Viking Crown Lounge, which serves bite-sized portions of its favourite classics. Guests can also enjoy Centrum, a chic and sophisticated venue with enriching daytime activities, dazzling nightly entertainment and jaw-dropping aerial spectacles, plus sweeping vistas and a central location.

Splendour of the Seas also provides services to the younger crowd, with fun-filled daily activities as part of the company’s award-winning Adventure Ocean youth programme. Children aged 12 years and above will have access to the teen-only hangout and disco, as well as various enrichment classes, such as mixing music like a DJ or learning hip-hop dance moves.

Meanwhile, all ports in the Gulf region are gearing up for the arrival of Splendour of the Seas, as Sultan Al Dhaheri, acting executive director of tourism at Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, confirms: “By 2015, we anticipate a change in our own shore excursion portfolio, with the eagerly awaited opening of Louvre Abu Dhabi in the Saadiyat Island Cultural District and Zayed Port’s improved permanent terminal facilities – two significant milestones that add that depth of quality and diversity to the region.”

Splendour of the Seas is expected to add more than 32,000 guests to the region’s burgeoning cruise sector and the trips will be available for booking from April 10, 2014.
