Works Ministry paves a total of 52.31km long dirt roads; serving 3131 residential units

HE the Minister of Works Eng. Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf revealed that the Ministry has commenced the paving of a total of 52.31km long dirt roads in various urban areas in the Kingdom’s Governorates; costing a total of BD9 million.

The Minister stressed that all such projects come in response to directives from HRH the Prime Minister; reiterating the Government’s keenness to improve infrastructure in all Governorates. The Ministry of Works, as part of their strategic plan, has given priority to the paving of dirt roads and providing an integrated and efficient road network, thus solving flooding and sanitary related issues and problems. The Ministry, in collaboration with Municipal Councils, has implemented 11 BD9,000,000 projects beginning of this year; serving 3131 residential units.

‘Thanks to the efforts of the Ministerial Committee for Services & Infrastructure, the Ministry has managed to implement all those projects, which are being carried out by the best Bahraini contractors and team of engineers at the Ministry,’ said Khalaf.

The projects that the Ministry has commenced are as follows:
• Dirt roads pavement in Sanad blocks 743 and 745 and the environs. The BD517,534 project was awarded to Al Wardi Constructions. The project aims to serve 408 residential units and pave 85% of roads in the block. Work comprises of paving a total of 6km long roads, paving and asphalting works, implementing a proper infrastructure and constructing parking spaces. Work also involves installation of storm water drainage system, installation of street lighting system and signage.
• Dirt roads pavement in Avenue 11 and the environs, Block 112 in Hidd. The BD553,691 project was awarded to Abdul Aziz Al Sayyed Trading & Contracting. The project aims to serve 306 residential units and pave 81.2% of roads in the block. Work comprises of paving a total of 4.965km long roads, paving and asphalting works, implementing a proper infrastructure and installation of storm water drainage system, street lighting system and signage.
• Dirt roads pavement in Busaiteen 228 and the environs- phase 1. The BD495,153 project was awarded to Bahrain Motors; aiming to serve 232 residential units and pave 82.80% of roads in the block. Work comprises of paving a total of 3.6km long roads, asphalting and civil works, implementing street lighting system, rain water drainage networks and signage.
• Dirt roads pavement in Busaiteen- phase 2 (Blocks 228 & 226). The BD2,540,859 project was awarded to Sayyed Kadhim Al Durazi & Sons; aiming to serve 582 residential units and pave 94.8% of roads in the block. Work comprises of paving a total of 11.1km long roads, asphalting and civil works, implementing street lighting system, rain water drainage networks and signage.
• Dirt roads pavement in Zinj (Block 358) and Tubli Block 711, Road 1101. The BD452,145 project was awarded to Al Wardi Constructions; aiming to serve 64 residential units and pave 87.4% of roads in the block. Work comprises of paving a total of 4km long roads.
• Dirt roads pavement in Tubli Block 711- Road 1135. The 2,362,174 project was awarded to Sayyed Kadhim Al Durazi & Sons; aiming to serve 962 residential units and pave 87.4% of roads in the block. Work comprises of paving a total of 11km long roads.
• Dirt roads pavement in Sadad (Avenue 38), Roads 3810, 3813 and 3846, in addition to Shahrakan Road 4417. The BD328,800 project was awarded to Al Wardi Constructions. The project aims to serve 130 residential units and pave 27.78% of roads in both areas. Work comprises of paving a total of 2.582km long roads, implement proper infrastructure, install a new street lighting system and storm water drainage system, in addition to implementing service channels for future use, signage and painting works.
• Dirt roads paving in Hidd 109 and the environs. The BD1,235,832 project was awarded to Al Door Constructions; aiming to serve 422 residential units and pave 92% of roads in the block. Work comprises of paving a total of 8km long roads, asphalting and civil works, implementing street lighting system, rain water drainage network and signage, painting of road marks, in addition to the implementation of ground channels to avoid cutting the asphalt in the future.
• Dirt roads pavement in Rifa Block 934, Road 3409 and the environs. The BD196,525 project was awarded Gulf Horizons. The project aims to serve 25 residential units and pave 70% of roads in the block. Work comprises of paving a total of 1.1km long roads.
