The General Traffic Directorate will ensure the smooth flow of traffic as the flyover opens during the morning. This milestone is in line with the Ministry of Work’s efforts to provide high quality services and meet expectations of a high standard of planning and execution of public works.
The Minister explained that starting Friday July 16th 2010, trucks would be permitted to use the newly opened part of Sitra Bridge; heading towards Sitra from Um Al Hassam only. However, trucks will not have access to head towards Um Al Hassam from Sitra; until the Eastern marine bridges are opened for traffic.
The Sitra Bridge and Um Al Hassam Junction Development Project is considered to be one of the biggest and most complicated road projects implemented by the Ministry of Works and is a key contributing factor to the future development of the Kingdom of Bahrain. Work on the project spans an area of more than 3.2 Km; from Um Al Hassam Junction to the Industrial Area Junction in Sitra, with a length of 1,5 Km along Sh. Essa bin Salman Highway. The project also consists of underground infrastructure, with high and low voltage cables, water, sewage, gas and irrigation pipes.
