MoW’s Assistant Undersecretary for Construction and Maintenance Projects Mona Al Motawa revealed that the Shaikha Sabeeka Bint Ebrahim Al Khalifa Social Centre Project has been awarded to Dar Al Khaleej Trading & Contracting WLL at a cost of BD2,885,000. Work is to commence this month.
Al Motawa explained that work on the project, which is owned by the Ministry of Social Development, will take 18 months to complete and is due for completion in July 2015. The project is located in Al Hunainiya Valley close to Riffa Club.
The Shaikha Sabeeka Social Centre Project highlights the Government’s keenness to enhance and improve social services provided to citizens. Also, the project is fully supported by HH Shaikha Sabeeka, who constantly makes sure that Bahraini families and other groups in the society receives proper social care; all of which are part of the various social services provided by the Ministry of Social Development such as handcrafts training, health awareness campaigns and lectures that are held in special centres built according to the best technical standards that reflect the modern aspect of Bahrain.
‘The centre’s design reflects Bahrain’s rich architecture history, and covers an area of 8350m2,’ said Al Motawa.
‘The project consists of a 3 storey social building, with administrative offices, training, lectures and social activities halls for both sexes, a multi-purpose theatre that accommodates 286 persons, electricity sub-station, parking lot and other related services,’ she added.
