The Dubai Health Authority concluded today its summer training program which it organised for 149 Emirati students who worked for three-weeks within the various hospitals, health clinics and administration offices of the DHA to gain practical work experience.

The Dubai Health Authority concluded today its summer training program which it organised for 149 Emirati students who worked for three-weeks within the various hospitals, health clinics and administration offices of the DHA to gain practical work experience.

The training program organised by the Medical Education Department is for School to University level students. The students successfully completed their program and were felicitated at a ceremony held today at the Rashid Medical Library Auditorium. Fifty-five were university students and 99 were school students.

During the course of the three-week training program, students were given practical training experience according to the preferential field of work they applied for. Medical Education Department at the DHA also provided the trainees with workshops and seminars which are designed to help them cope with professional challenges once they enter the job market. The students underwent practical training experience including first-aid and heart saver program which included CPR training.

Asraf Ahmed Mohammed, Acting Director of Medical Education Department said, “This initiative is of vital importance to enhance the skills of the students who will soon step into the professional world and is an opportunity for students to gain valuable workplace experience in the speciality which they wish to pursue.” He added, “The program is in line with the vision of the leaders of the UAE, to develop an educated work force for the country.”

Mohammed said, “Such programs are essential for students to get a head-start in terms of their career because practical work experience helps them understand what the requirements of a job are and how they can fulfil them effectively.”

Mohammed Saleh Kayali, Acting-head of summer training program at the DHA, said, “Students chose their top three preferences for the training program and based on their choice and availability; we granted them three-week work placements across the different entities and departments at the DHA including all our hospitals, health centres and administrative departments. Several students have joined the DHA after their graduation and this is a good opportunity for them to understand their field of work so that they are better prepared when they enter the job market.”

The training program included various lectures and workshops In addition, Noor Dubai Foundation provided free eye-screening and the DHA dental department provided free dental screening for students.
