Dubai Health Authority organized a workshop on effective communication skills for healthcare providers.
The workshop was organized by the Health Regulation department in collaboration with Medical Education Department and Primary Health Sector at the DHA.
Dr Layla Al Marzouqi, Assistant Director of Health Regulation at the DHA, said: “ The aim of the workshop was to educate public and private sector healthcare professionals about the basics of good communication and the need to effectively communicate with patients and their family members.”
The workshop introduced the basics of effective communication and highlighted that poor communication between a patient and doctor can impact patient safety and affect the quality of medical service provided.
The workshop also discussed the role of the doctor and patient to achieve effective communication and at the end of the workshop, participants were given a questionnaire to assess their strengths and weaknesses. They were then given advice on how to overcome their weaknesses and effectively communicate with patients.
