The Ministry bagged the ‘Golden Excellence Shield for Smart Services’ along with the ‘Certificate of Patent’ for its smart emergency service for the deaf people.
The Organization described this service as ‘highest and top smart service’ in the field of social responsibility.
On this occasion, the Director General of Civil Defense and head of National Command Centre (NCC) which manages the Operations Department that provides ‘Emergency Service for the Deaf’, Brig.
Abdullah Mohammed Al Suwaidi expressed his gladness on winning this award. He said, “This achievement emphasizes on the success of the Ministry in communicating with all segments of the society including those with special needs, especially the deaf.”
“This service has helped the deaf people to communicate by themselves with the emergency service of the Ministry whenever they face any kind of emergency situation and to report us in detail about the incident,” Brig. Al Suawaidi said. Stressing that it will help the Department to extend required humanitarian service and respond immediately to deal with the situation as soon as possible.
“The Ministry of Interior’s concern for the people with special needs stems from the strategy of the Ministry on its social responsibility towards the community members and its institution without any exception,” said the NCC chief.
He added, “The Ministry has given enough care for them and launched many services for them to complete the transactions and services required by this group of people easily.” “The ‘Emergency Service for the Deaf’ was inaugurated by HE the Minister of State for Interior Affairs after completing a comprehensive study and research about the project,” noted Brig. Al Suwaidi.
“The Ministry has a database of people with hearing disability and it strives to provide them more services to make sure their integration in the community,” he added.
“The Ministry of Interior has bagged this award as a result of the joint efforts between all departments of the Ministry that work as an integrated system. This award inspires us to spend more efforts,” the Civil Defence director said.
He further stressed that the ‘Emergency Service for the Deaf’ is not the last initiative in this regard, but there are ambitious plans for more research about the innovations in the field to offer them more services in the future.
The Ministry of Interior had launched emergency services for the deaf through 992 on September 17, 2012 as part of implementing its strategy and future plans.
The emergency service for the Deaf is one of the excellent services launched by the Ministry that will benefit more than 500 persons with hearing disability as the first service of its kind in the Middle East. The service is provided through 3G facility where the deaf people can interact with the trained persons at emergency services for the deaf in the sign language.
It is worth mention that the Arab Organization for Social Responsibility (AOSR) is an independent Arab organization with numerous objectives including dealing with the concept of social responsibility at the local level and converting it to strategic level in the work of the municipalities, the Arab governments and official institutions. It also would like to promote and stimulate civil society to engage in social responsibilities and support programmes in sustainable development.
The AOSR has launched Golden Excellence Award for activists of social responsibility in the Arab region. The award is intended to honor personalities from the public and private sectors in each member state of the Arab League making initiatives and achievements in the field of social responsibility thus contributing in supporting local communities in all fields to serve the community’s goals and achieve their aspirations.
The ministry has received this prestigious award for its outstanding initiative in providing its emergency service to people with special needs – the deaf community.
