LTE is considered as the latest technology available in the communication field and it is the best 4G wireless communication technology which is seen is as technology of future for coming seven years.
The launching ceremony was attended by the Director General of Public Security (DGPS) HE Staff Major General Saad bin Jassim Al-Khulaifi, director of Communications Department Brigadier Engineer Ali Salem Al-Hanzab and directors of several departments of the Ministry of Interior and Internal Security Force (Lakhwiya).
In the press briefing, the DGPS said that the Ministry of Interior is keeping pace with the upsurge that Qatar witnesses supported by Qatar Vision 2030. The Ministry has achieved a milestone in communication technology upgrading by launching the first phase LTE system, he added.
He further stressed that this will help the security petrols and it can send pictures and data from the incident site to the National Command Centre (NCC) and other responsible persons in different departments.
Staff Major General Al-Khulaifi also said that Qatar Interior Ministry is among the pioneers in the security field to apply this technology in Arabian Gulf, Middle East, Fars East and Europe as cited by the company providing the technology.
“The project is in the first phase and it will witness huge development while it will be completed in 2013,” the Police Chief said.
“This technology will help to send big size audio and visual data and other information with high quality and accuracy without compromising on its confidentiality and privacy while stationary and moving conditions”, he added.
The Director of Communications Department Brigadier Engineer Ali Salem Al-Hanzab said that the Ministry is the first body in the region to use this technology for security purpose and it is the new standard of the 4G services.
Brigadier Al-Hanzab added that the most important advantages of this technology are it increases productivity and transfer voice, image and text data at a higher speed, and eases of plug and play and use, improves and develops the areas and methods of work and low operating costs. In this initial stage it covers some parts of the city of Doha and its suburbs, and will continue to complete in the remaining stages the full coverage of Doha in the next few months and will be cover the whole country by the next year.
He pointed out that the network is managed entirely by the Communications Department of the Ministry of Interior and it have been associated with 24 stations in the city of Doha and it will work hand in hand with the present TETRA network , which has proven successful in providing voice communications to cover the daily requirements of the security services.
The Project director Lt. Eng. Faisal Al-Hanzab said that the Department has qualified and trained engineers and technicians in the Department to handle the network as they got specialized courses in the LTE and they were part of planning, execution and operation of the this technology and they can operate and maintain it in the future.
