Al Noman spoke about the history of Formula One in Sharjah, saying, “Hosting the previous 7 UIM F1 World Powerboat Championships in Sharjah has brought about considerable levels of progress toward achieving the levels of excellence to which we aspire. Much has been achieved across the spectrum of industries with which our emirate’s history is linked, among these science, culture and international events. Additionally, we received 5 “Best Event Organiser” awards within that 7-year period. Such progress only spurs us on in our efforts to promote Sharjah as a world-class international family destination for tourism, culture and heritage.”

“Sharjah, represented by SCTDA and the other government corporations and departments concerned in this event, has called in every available resource and removed every anticipated obstacle, in order that this year’s event is a resounding success. We strive to make Sharjah the centre of the world’s attention,” Noman said.

Germano said of Sharjah’s hosting of the final round of the UIM World Powerboat Championship, “We are certain that Sharjah is more than capable in this regard. This confidence stems from the emirate’s successful hosting of the event for the past 7 years, and the high standards with which the emirate’s name has become synonymous.” He added that Sharjah’s Khalid Lagoon is a favourite venue among championship participants, and that they are generally keen to compete here.

Germano went on to say that Sharjah now faces a new challenge, in that the emirate’s experience and the standards to which it has held itself while hosting this event in previous years will be difficult to top. He then went on to complement H.E. Mohamed A. Al Noman and his team on their superior organisation of the event and their good hospitality.
