DMF 2014 hosts digital industry’s leading lights

Leading lights from across the region’s digital media sector are gathering at the Digital Media Forum (DMF) 2014, which takes place over two days in Dubai. The event, which is now in its third year, is being held under the twin platforms of ‘The Digital Experience: Challenges and Dynamics’ and ‘Recognising Achievements,’ with hundreds of digital media professionals registered to participate in its programme of presentations, key note speeches and industry awards.

Designed for stakeholders looking to embrace the latest experiences and advances in brand engagement, DMF 2014 will be examining which digital powers are driving the future of media, what it takes to make an impact and methods to ensure a continued lifespan in a dynamic industry. The event has attracted a host of entrepreneurs, executives and other talented stakeholders who also will be using the platform to network and share information outside of the forum’s programme of activities addressing the rapidly evolving sector.

“This is the third DMF in Dubai and the forum has grown from strength to strength. We have created a recipe for success by inviting the biggest names in the industry to come and share their achievements and discuss the latest developments in the arena,” said Najla Semaan Mazboudi, MD of Spot On and founder of the Digital Media Forum and MENA Digital Awards.

Included among the big name draws at DMF 2014 is Roy Haddad, Director at WPP MENA, the regional wing of the renowned British multinational advertising and public relations company. In his keynote speech, titled ‘Ideation and Consumer Relevance,’ Haddad will look at how media channels have evolved and multiplied over the years but retained one fundamental truth – the idea – with this anchoring the brand in a relationship with the consumer. Haddad’s presentation is just one of a number that examine developments and issues relating to the digital media industry, with several key players sponsoring the event to enable it to reach as wide an audience as possible.

A significant proportion of DMF 2014 will be focused on recognising the achievements of those currently working in the region’s digital industry. Among those who will be receiving acknowledgements for their outstanding contributions to the sector so far are Dimitri Metaxas, Managing Director at Resolution MENA; Rayan Karaky, Chief Digital Officer at Starcom Media Vest Group and Managing Director of Vivaki Nerve Center; Nagham Akileh, Regional Marketing Manager – E-Commerce , Aramex; Mohamad Itani, General Manager, Platform5; Roy Haddad , Director of WPP-MENA and Ali Jaber, Dean, Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Communication at American University of Dubai and Group TV Director, Middle East Broadcasting Corporation.

For the first time at DMF, organisers will be also honouring tonight those judged to have made a significant positive impact to the industry through the MENA Digital Awards. The awards programme is the only scheme in the region that focuses solely on the digital sector and has been designed to recognise success and excellence in the sector, thereby promoting the best in digital marketing planning, creativity, innovation, and effectiveness.

“The inaugural MENA Digital Awards will celebrate the achievements of those who have had the most impact on the region’s digital media sector,” said Mazboudi. “We have set the bar very high and did this deliberately to enhance the value of the awards, which we expect to become a benchmark for standards in the industry in the future. The 10 categories are being judged by well-known industry names from digital agencies, advertisers and media houses,” she added.

DMF 2014 is currently taking place at the One & Only Royal Mirage, Dubai. The event is the first in a newly expanded DMF programme which now includes DMF Cairo on June 25-26, 2014 and DMF KSA (dates to be confirmed).
