Sharjah Media Corporation receives Director of China National Radio

Dr Khalid Omar Al Midfa, Director-General of the Sharjah Media Corporation (SMC), recently received Wang Qiu, Director-General of China National Radio (CNR), and the delegation accompanying him, at SMC’s headquarters in Sharjah.

The meeting was held in the presence of Mr Wang Tigang, Regional Manager & Chief Journalist of China Central Television (CCTV) in the Middle East, and a number of officials from the Sharjah Media Corporation and Chinese National Radio and Television.

The Chinese delegation lauded the impressive development experienced by the UAE in various fields, during the meeting, which saw both sides engage in a cordial exchange with regards to a number of media-related issues.

The Chinese delegates praised the strong and distinguished ties between China and the UAE as both sides expressed their eagerness to continue developing UAE-China relations further to serve common interests as well as to push bilateral relations in all areas forward, including the field of media.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Khalid Omar Al Midfa, Director-General of SMC, said, “We are extremely proud of the impressive and ongoing development in Sharjah’s media sector, which highlights the magnitude of the unlimited support extended to the corporation by His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, a fact that was recognised and praised by the Chinese media delegation during the visit.”

Al Midfa went on to say, “We believe that such visits play a vital role in enhancing the exchange of expertise and exploring possible means of future media cooperation, and we are pleased to provide every possible form of support to media organisations to ensure successful future collaborations.”

Accompanied by Dr Khalid Omar Al Midfa, SMC Director General, the Chinese delegation visited a number of SMC facilities, stopping in at Sharjah Radio and TV studios and control rooms. They listened to a detailed presentation about the advanced technology and equipment used to support the SMC News Centre and programme production. They also acquainted themselves with engineering capabilities and areas of technical support, and the outstanding levels of experience and media expertise that distinguish SMC’s national human resources and enables them to keep ahead of the progressive development of the media sector in the region.

Wang Qiu, Director-General of China National Radio, said, “The delegation and I were briefed on the advanced and sophisticated media, technological and technical fields utilised by the Sharjah Media Corporation, which shows the clear imprint of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and his support for this distinguished media establishment.”

“We also noticed the obvious role played by SMC leaders and their contribution to the reputation and leading position the Corporation enjoys in the region, as well as their outstanding efforts in the use of social media to augment the more traditional media channels and ensure the delivery of useful content,” he added.

At the end of the visit, the Chinese delegation praised the warm welcome they received in the UAE and Sharjah, and expressed their desire to open up new horizons for future cooperation with SMC in the light of its media message conveyed at the local and regional levels.

They delegation furthermore invited the Sharjah Media Corporation to visit China and participate in various media events held there, to help strengthen bilateral ties and to pave the way for building distinguished media collaborations in the future.
