The wide range of varied and exciting activities attracted a huge number of crowds to the mall – up to 500 in one day. Visitors included NBO customers and staff, the general public and families who came to the mall specifically to attend the carnival. Special events included face painting, magic shows, family activities, games, on-the-spot-prizes and much more.
Norma Ross, property manager at Cluttons Oman commented, ‘As property managers for the Qurum Complex, the Cluttons team has been actively looking for opportunities to host such events. I have been exploring activities for schoolchildren in particular, in order to give something back to the community, make best use of the space and drive visitors into the mall.’ Ross explains that Cluttons supported NBO by offering the space, stands and advertising as well as providing advice on how and when to set up.
The carnival is the result of three years of hard work, closely monitored by Philip Paul, head of agency at Cluttons in Oman. He notes, ‘Cluttons is committed to building the brand of the mall and creating visibility within the community. The success of the carnival demonstrates the vital role of proactive building management by a professional property management company.’
Most malls in the Sultanate are owner-managed and would benefit from expert advice on how to maximise the use of common areas. Philip adds, ‘Outsourcing the management to a professional management firm like Cluttons is essential to maintain and promote the brand of the mall within the local and business community. It also ensures that the space is being used effectively to serve the tenants by increasing footfall, businesses and the local community.’
