“This series marks another milestone in the development pathway for our Emirati players,” said UAE Rugby’s Qais Al Dhalai.
“We, as a leading Union within West Asia, have the responsibility to provide players with good and relevant competition. Further to that we also have the obligation to provide a platform for our neighbour Unions and it is our wish to see this Tournament growing in years to come,” he added.
Matthew Oakley of the IRB, stated, “We welcome this initiative by the UAERF and would also like to thank them for the contacts they have made with the Saudi Arabia NOC to help them be recognised (as a Union) and support the Saudi Arabia team in making its historic debut in world rugby.”
The first round of the Inaugural series on Friday November 9th will kick-off at 4pm between Iran and newcomers Saudi Arabia and will culminate in the show-stopping UAE Rugby’s Premiership Cup XV’s final at 7pm. Saturday’s schedule starts at 10am.
