The TRA is devoted to sponsoring and taking part in ICT activities in the UAE and throughout the world. H.E. Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim, TRA Director General, said that recent surveys rated the United Arab Emirates as the region’s innovation hub. Responding to rapid innovation in the UAE’s IT market, many global corporations are establishing “innovation centers” in the country.
“Innovation is a catalyst for growth and development in the telecommunication sector,” said H.E. Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim, TRA Director General. “It is also a vital aspect of the government’s goal that the country become the premier information and communication technology hub in the region and beyond.”
“The United Arab Emirates is focused on developing its innovative capacity,” added Al Ghanim. “Because of this, the country is witnessing a surge of public- and private-sector cooperation to in order to solve any problems hindering this development.Innovations in Information Technology (Innovations ’11) is a premier forum for presenting and discussing the latest research and technological advances in information technology. The annual international conference is organized by the Faculty of Information Technology, United Arab Emirates University (UAEU). This year, the conference was held in Abu Dhabi for the first time since its inauguration in 2004.
The conference featured a panel of world-renowned keynote speakers who talked about challenges and opportunities in the current IT landscape. Topics of discussion included communication networks, information security, web services, high performance computing, data acquisition and processing, data mining, transportation management, and IT health and bioinformatics.
