University College of Bahrain (UCB) has successfully upgraded their Campus Wi-Fi to a state of the art Cloud managed Campus Wi-Fi from Cisco –Meraki.
The project included upgrading the wired and wireless networks across the entire campus and was completed in less than a month by Kanoo IT, a division of the E.K. Kanoo group of companies.
Students and staff alike will instantly be able to access superfast virtually isolated networks through their desktop, laptop, tablet or mobile devices. This includes giving students full access to the University’s suite of online resources on all their devices, such as Google Apps for Education, OpenClass, Coursesmart, Grammarly, amongst others. In addition the Internet will be opened up for families and friends too.
Sh. Abdulla Khalid Al-Khalifa, Executive Director for Technology & Innovation, said, “Deployment of Cisco Meraki cloud Wi-fi in UCB was a great experience for both wireless users and IT admin team since it provides high density coverage across the campus with a lean IT admin team to sustain the rapid growth of wireless devices in our campus in this BYOD era. Kanoo IT demonstrated the lead role of a seasoned integrator to implement a secure, cost effective, scalable and easy to manage cloud managed Wi-Fi solutions.”
“Kanoo IT is proud to be associated with University college of Bahrain in this strategic initiative. Wi-Fi management from anywhere in the world is a new concept and we are excited to introduce the solution for the very first time in Bahrain,” said Mr. Waleed Kanoo General Manager, KANOO IT.
The new network will be available for students and faculty as a pre-launch starting this week.
