Iomega partners with Axis Communications to provide cloud enabled hosted video surveillance for SMBs at Intersec

United Arab Emirates: Monday, January 16 - 2012 @ 10:10

“During challenging times, criminals tend to target small businesses as there is a perception that they are easier to penetrate,” said Cizar Abughazaleh, regional director for the Middle East, Africa and Turkey at Iomega. “SMBs in the Middle East need to take a closer look at their physical security measures in place to protect their assets, especially in parts of the region experiencing social change.”

“At Intersec, we will demonstrate how Axis, the market leader in network video, powered by Iomega’s leading cloud storage and security solutions, enables SMBs in the Middle East to leverage the power and cost effectiveness of cloud services, giving them a more secure, highly available and cost-effective solution for their video surveillance needs,” continued Abughazaleh.

The AVHS-enabled Iomega network storage devices, along with Axis network cameras and encoders, allow resellers and integrators to deliver world-class video surveillance capabilities to small and medium-sized customers. These solutions are secure, remotely accessible, and cost-effective, eliminating the need for expensive and complex DVRs as well as reducing the necessity of elaborate onsite infrastructure for low-camera-count deployments.

With Iomega and Axis’ hosted video service, SMBs in the region will only pay for the storage they need, allowing them to grow their infrastructure without requiring additional capital investment. Deployment times will also be greatly reduced, due to limited infrastructure requirements. Customers can select different recording and retention policies for both on-site and off-site video files, and can remotely access files from any web browser.

“We are delighted to be participating at Intersec since network video surveillance solutions are witnessing increased traction in large scale deployments compared to outdated analogue technology,” said Baraa Al Akkad, Regional Sales Manager, Axis Communications Middle East. “Axis actively engages with leading IT infrastructure partners such as Iomega to ensure end-to-end system compatibility and optimized end- user installations. At Intersec, we will target our solutions across the Middle East’s retail, transport, and the oil and gas industries.”

About AVHS

AXIS Video Hosting System (AVHS) software is Axis’ platform for creating a service provider-specific portal to manage video surveillance hosting and monitoring services for any end-user with an Internet connection. The platform, which was created for professional-level video surveillance, is currently designed for fast onsite deployments of a few cameras per site – typically less than 10 – and is especially beneficial for organizations with many sites, such as franchises and bank branches.

“Before the emergence of hosted video surveillance, end-users who needed only a few cameras per site to secure their properties – such as convenient stores, gas stations, and small offices – were left to use outdated analog technology as the most cost-effective solution,” said Fredrik Nilsson, general manager, Axis Communications Inc. “By working together with reputable storage and IT security partners such as EMC’s Iomega, we can deliver IP-based video systems to these end-users, which provides much more flexibility, superior image quality and local intelligence with easy-to-install products.”
