The highest yearly increase since the launch of the service has been put down to a rise in the number of users throughout the country and an increased range of e-mail services offered by EIM.
“EIM Mail Service has become the dominant form of communication online, with many businesses now using it as their primary communication tool,” said Maroua Naim, General Manager, EIM. “We have been working hard to ensure that the needs of the market are met with the right products that conform to the highest standards.”
New features added in September 2002 to the EIM Mail Service web access (accessed via eimmail.ae), introduced up-to-the-minute technology for the complete management of folders, profiles, personal address lists, and an increased capacity for file attachments. As part of that upgrade, filtering software was also introduced that allows a variety of settings, from file size to junk and spam mail, to automatically filter or block specific mails and place them in pre-set folders. To increase versatility and provide the ability to access mails anytime, anywhere, EIM Mail Service is also available via mobile phones using GPRS and WAP.
In further upgrades in October 2002, scalable EIM Mail storage packages for companies and individuals using a dial-up connection were launched. This enabled e-mail box storage limits to be increased from the default 5MB (mega bytes) storage limit, to any size they wish. From this improvement, more content-heavy files can be delivered to customers electronically, dramatically improving the effectiveness of the service.
A major factor in the increase of subscribers has been the introduction of new packages for the small to medium sized business sector. The new packages offer companies an increased, scalable number of e-mail accounts and the opportunity to brand their e-mail with the company name ([email protected]). Full details of these packages can be viewed at www.eim.ae/mail.
Additionally, in October residential users were offered the option of increasing the number of mail boxes under one subscription, allowing those who require additional contacts for themselves or a family member to have multiple e-mail addresses.
“We have been concentrating heavily on the EIM Mail Service offering for our customers during the past year to ensure the both home users and businesses can communicate effectively to colleagues, friends or relatives anywhere in the world,” added Naim. “We have a highly robust, distributed network that can sustain almost any type of external attack or abnormal surge of traffic in the system. The upgraded service puts us on par with the best providers around the globe. We think the subscriber figures speak for themselves when evaluating our efforts.”
