With the inauguration of the 28th Ramadan & Eid Fair on Saturday (June 28), Expo Centre Sharjah has become the centre of all activities being held in Sharjah for the Holy Month of Ramadan.
This is for the first time that the entire set of activities for the Sharjah Ramadan Festival is being held at Expo Centre Sharjah, which will last for more than 30 days and include numerous Islamic cultural activities and programmes.
“Expo Centre Sharjah has become the hub of all Ramadan activities this year. With the Sharjah Ramadan Festival, the Islamic Culture Capital celebrations and the 28th Ramadan & Eid Fair all happening at the same time and same place, all roads will literally lead to Expo Centre Sharjah during the next more than 30 days,” said Mr. Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, CEO, Expo Centre Sharjah.
While the Ramadan & Eid Fair will be held until July 28, the Sharjah Ramadan Festival events will continue at Expo Centre until July 31.
“Perhaps, there is no event taking place in the region in such a big scale during the Holy Month. We have been working with the relevant government entities and industry partners to ensure that every event will leave a memorable impression with visitors,” said Mr. Midfa.
The Ramadan & Eid Fair is featuring over 100 companies displaying a wide range of household and lifestyle products, apart from lining up enough entertainment, cultural and amusement activities in order to live up to its reputation as the most sought-after leisure and retail destination every Ramadan.
“Besides the best shopping deals, the fair has a dedicated new segment – Taste of Ramadan — that is catering exclusively to connoisseurs of fine food and beverages” added Mr. Midfa. Visitors can also look up to Islamic lectures organised in different languages.
Strengthening its appeal among families, other key attractions at the fair include a multi-cuisine food court, games & workshops for kids, cookery demonstrations, World of Flavours by celebrity chefs, charity corner and raffle draws, among others.
As part of the Sharjah Ramadan Festival and Islamic Culture Capital celebrations, Expo Centre will also pay host to nine pavilions, 30 art exhibitions, five theatrical performances, more than 65 lectures, seminars & panel discussions, which will see participation from 20 countries from around the world.
For the first time in the emirate, the festival is featuring an Islamic book fair, as well as a collection of Mamluk Quran manuscripts and rare Islamic artworks. Its majlis is hosting imminent scholars, scientists and artists as speakers.
The festival will also include a pavilion for Sharjah TV and another for Islamic lectures, in addition to the Ramadan Majlis, Art Bazaar, Spice Route Markets, Arab and Islamic Heritage Village and Islamic Heritage Theatre.
