A tender has been floated by Oman’s transport ministry for package-7 of the ¬ambitious Al Batinah Expressway project, Muscat Daily has reported. Local and international contracting companies have until August 14 to purchase the tender documents. The bids for the tender will be accepted until September 15, 2014, according to information on the Tender Board website. The $1bn Al Batinah Expressway project is a 265km-long dual four-lane expressway. The entire project was initially divided into six large packages, of which package-2 is the only package yet to be awarded. Once completed, the Batinah Expressway will be an eight-lane road linking Muscat to the new Sohar Port and industrial area and on to the UAE border.
