Celebrated Bolivian artist, Roberto MamaniMamani will be showcasing his art collection ‘Portraits’ at the Artissima Art Gallery in Abu Dhabi from the 23rd of March until 23rd of April at Dusit Thani Hotel.
Renowned in the art world as MamaniMamani, Roberto, a self-taught artist, develops his art from original visions and feelings of his people, using vibrant, and multiple colors to express character, textures and emotions.
Born in Quechua region, Cochabamba, Roberto has electrified the Bolivian highlands with yellow, red, purple, fuchsia, orange colors to paint their magical figures that intend to ward off evil spirits as his grandmother taught him when he was just a child.
Roberto’s original figurative work is like a multicolor party in which appears the Andean geography, full of characters, plants, animals, rituals and dances taking shape reflecting the Bolivian identity and legacy.
Roberto MamaniMamani is the author of more than 3000 pictures in about 70 series, most of which have been painted on watercolor paper with resins that he prepares himself from various pigments; both Bolivian traditional and new techniques of color.
His prolific work is expressed in small, medium and large sizes, even large-scale murals, has been shown around the world, in over 50 solo and group exhibitions that always impresses on the pride of the Andean identity. The energy and optimism transmitted through its colorful magical work due to Roberto’s tireless effort to build a mythical and passionate vision about the Andes and the Pachamama (Mother Earth).
