Under the patronage of internationally-recognized Jordanian artist, H.E. Muhanna Durra, Ruwwad Al Tanmeya announced the commencement of its ‘Bayt Silsal at Ruwwad’ art exhibition, which aims to showcase and celebrate artwork created by a group of young adults with disabilities. Hosted by Wadi Finan for Arts, the exhibition opened its doors to the public on Saturday 26 April, and will continue until Monday 12 May, 2014.
Founded by Jordanian Artist Rula Atalla in partnership with Ruwwad Al Tanmeya, Bayt Silsal is located at Ruwwad’s main center in Jabal Al-Natheef and currently provides 16 young men and women with disabilities with a creative space to experiment with and produce various types of artwork. The ‘Bayt Silsal at Ruwwad’ exhibition features large canvas drawings, hand-drawn cushions and ceramic bowls which are the outcome of weekly art workshops led by Jordanian artist Hani Alqam.
Ruwwad Al Tanmeya is a non-profit community empowerment organization that helps disadvantaged communities overcome marginalization through youth activism, civic engagement and education. Founded by Jordanian businessman Fadi Ghandour and a group of business entrepreneurs, Ruwwad Al Tanmeya is currently supported by Aramex and Cairo Amman Bank. Ruwwad Al Tanmeya establishes community empowerment centers in marginalized areas in order to offer youth educational scholarships in return for community service across three programs: Child, youth and community. Over the years, Ruwwad Al Tanmeya’s operations have grown to encompass Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon and Egypt.
