Etisalat to sell West African assets to Maroc Telecom

UAE’s Etisalat has agreed to sell businesses in six West African countries to Maroc Telecom, as it combines assets before completing a $5.8bn acquisition from Vivendi, Bloomberg has reported. Valued at $650m, the deal includes units in Benin, Central African Republic, Gabon, Ivory Coast, Niger and Togo that provide mobile voice and data services, Abu Dhabi-based Etisalat said. The deal is subject to the completion of the Maroc Telecom acquisition, the telecoms operator said.
