Phone, internet services eat up 30% of Saudis income: CPA

Saudi Arabia’s Consumer Protection Association (CPA) has said individual Saudis pay 30% of their income for phone bills and internet-based services provided by local telecoms companies, Arab News has reported. Nasir Al-Tuwaim, head of the CPA, attributed the high ratio of telecoms costs to a number of factors, including the relatively high call price in the kingdom, which stands at SR0.35 per minute, compared with international rates of SR0.07. Telecoms charges in Saudi Arabia are among the highest in the world, he noted.
