UAE TRA hosts workshop on development of e-Government services

Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA) is organizing a workshop titled ‘UN e-Government Index’ in Dubai. Participating are Richard Kirby, Senior Interregional Adviser on e-Government and Knowledge expert Mr. Brian Prentice from Gartner. The activities of this workshop are held in Conrad Hotel Dubai from September 2- 3.

This workshop comes within a collective coordination led by TRA in collaboration with other government bodies in order to strengthen the UAE position on the UN e-Government index. H.E. Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, UAE mGOV Director, opened the workshop with a welcoming speech, followed by an analytical outlook presentation at the UN e-Government index in 2014. An overview of the UN e-government Index in 2016 was also presented, followed by a review of several guiding points relevant to improving the UAE position on the United Nations e-Government index.

Commenting on the launch of the workshop, H.E. Hamad Obaid Al Mansouri said, “We aim through these ongoing efforts to promote the government bodies’ electronic presence and emphasize its distinctive ability to keep pace with global development in this field.” “And as we invite a group of distinguished experts in this sector, we look forward to exchanging experiences and knowledge to learn about the latest trends in government websites in terms of technology used, strategies for content management, usability, accessibility, e-participation, and government data and services offering,” he added.

H.E. also mentioned, “This workshop comes within an integrated strategy aimed at improving the quality of content and e-services offered by government bodies in the UAE. This is a logical result of the many initiatives that launched within the field.”

The agenda of the workshop will continue on September 3rd by presenting a set of points and issues. The most important point to be discussed will be the possibility of establishing joint action and role distribution between various government bodies and institutions, in order to raise competitiveness of the UAE on the UN e-Government index.
