Abu Dhabi Police has deployed more than 140 traffic patrols around schools in the emirate of Abu Dhabi to ease heavy traffic flow and ensure safety for students and other road users at the start of the new academic year, WAM reported. The annual back to school traffic safety plan is implemented with the strategic partnership with Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC). Colonel Khamis Ishaq Mohammed, Deputy Director of Traffic and Patrols at Abu Dhabi Police, emphasised that everything was in place for the start of the new academic year 2014-2015 as part of traffic safety awareness campaigned launched by the Ministry of Interior. He urged motorists, parents, and bus drivers to abide by traffic regulations, and instructions, especially speed limit near schools and also advised them to park properly to ensure smooth flow of vehicular traffic.
