Ajman was named the Third Best Exhibitor at ITB-Berlin, for the Category of Near and Middle East participants.
Faisal Al Nuaimi, the General Manager of Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) and head of the Ajman delegation to ITB-Berlin, dedicated the award to HH Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, the Ruler of Ajman, and HH Sheikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of Ajman Executive Council, affirming continued efforts serving Ajman and the UAE.
The ATDD leads Ajman delegation to the ITB-Berlin; the leading international tourist exhibition, for the second consecutive year. Ajman Chamber, Ajman Saray, Kempenski-Ajman Hotel, Ramada Hotel & Suites Ajman, Ajman Beach Hotel, Ajman Palace and Al Zorah resort are members of the delegation.
Standards for nomination included the ability of stand operators to promote for their destination, response to quires of visitors, in addition to the level of technology imbedded with the stand, he clarified.
To which extent the stand, from a designing perspective, helped its operators hold fruitful negotiations, as well as the materials from which the promotion items were made, were also high on the list of criteria, Al Nuaimi added, noting that all the items at Ajman stand were recyclable.
Ajman stand managed, over four days, to attract many visitors, he said, affirming that ITB-Berlin was an ideal opportunity to get the stake holders informed about the development of the tourist sector in Ajman.
The ATDD held a number of public-oriented activities over the event days, including the launch of ATDD web portal, the announcement of Ajman hospitality sector statistics for the year 2013, a ceremony to honor a number of German university students who finalized a six-month training at Ajman hotel establishments, distribution of free vouchers to visit Ajman for seven nights, among other activities.
The participation of Ajman Chamber represented an added value to the performance of the Ajman delegation to ITB-Berlin, Al Nuaimi said, noting that many hotels signed contracts with tour operators to lure European tourists to Ajman, in addition to the delegation meetings with a number of luxury companies to hold sports events and conferences with the aim of increasing tourism inflow to Ajman within a few months.
For her part, Khawla Ali Al Meheiri, the Director of Business Opportunities and Investment at Ajman Chamber, said the target of her organization’s participation was to explore investment spheres in the health and educational tourism sectors, affirming that Ajman’s win was a proof on the success of the mission of Ajman delegation to ITB-Berlin.
