National Centre for Statistics and Information’s latest data shows that Oman’s four- and five-star hotels saw strong growth in the first half of 2014 in terms of occupancy, guest numbers and revenues, Hotelier Middle East reported. According to NCSI a total of 368,764 guests stayed at the hotels in the six months to the end of June, up 20.7% on the same period in 2013. Meanwhile, revenues were up 8.7% to OR86.3m ($224.2m), while the occupancy rate rose 3.3 percentage points to 64.6%. The strongest source market for these hotels was Europe, with the number of guests from the continent up 28.5% to 132,898. Domestic guest numbers held up well, up 14.1% to 106,791, while there was particularly strong growth from Asia, up 28.5% to 37,361.
