UK-based consultant WSP was lately awarded major contracts for facilities at new Muscat and Salalah airports by international contractor J&P Overseas Ltd. J&P Overseas Ltd had won the $516mn (RO198.67mn) contract from Oman’s Ministry of Transport and Communications for ‘Design and Construction of the Cargo and Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul Facilities’ at these airports, Muscat Daily reported. WSP is ranked among the world’s top ten professional consultancies. It will provide detailed design work on maintenance and cargo facilities at Muscat airport and the cargo facility at Salalah airport spread over 150,000sqm. The maintenance hangar at Muscat airport will be expanded to accommodate an A380 and two Code C aircraft together. WSP will be providing civil, structural, building services and specialist support services including fire, acoustics and security.
