Yas Island is heading to Shanghai, China to promote the world-class destination with one of the fastest growing travel markets in the world. Participating in Incentive Travel & Convention, Meetings China 2014 (IT&CM China), China’s leading international Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions (MICE) event, from 15 to 17 April, will enable Yas Island to further build relationships with China’s burgeoning outbound travel industry.
According to the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA), in the first two months of 2014 alone, the UAE Capital saw some 22,577 Chinese travelers check into its hotels – a 182 per cent uplift compared to the same period last year. Abu Dhabi has also been named among the among the top 100 global association meetings destinations by the International Congress and Convention Association’s (ICCA) global city rankings.
“China is a rapidly growing source market, and Abu Dhabi continues to grow as a top international destination for business tourism. The opportunities to explore this further are very encouraging, given that Yas Island is a key component of the Abu Dhabi and UAE offering, especially for business travel,” said Clive Dwyer, Director of Destination Management for Yas Island.
He added, “With a convenient location featuring seven hotels and a range of unique activities, business travelers on Yas Island are able to enjoy a unique and diverse experience, all in one 25 square kilometre location. Our visitors have found that integrating exciting activities, including motor-racing, golfing, theme parks and dining experiences, can help make their business events an even greater success, and we look forward to highlighting this to industry leaders in China.”
Yas Island Destination Management supports organisers with complimentary advisory services, including event planning advice and facilitation of venue proposals, to help ensure that each Yas Island event runs smoothly and efficiently. With enhanced facilities for corporate events, including tailored packages to create unconventional and inspiring experiences, Yas Island continues to attract both corporate groups and Destination Management Companies (DMCs), who recognise how Yas Island’s diverse attractions complement each other.
Adjusting to market demand, there are now more than 45 direct flights a week between China and the UAE. Yas Island is strategically located seven minutes from the Abu Dhabi International Airport, 25 minutes from downtown Abu Dhabi, 15 minutes from ADNEC and 45 minutes from the commercial hub of Dubai, making it accessible to a variety of regional and international markets.
