Oman’s national railway is likely to use diesel engines for trains

: Monday, June 16 - 2014 @ 10:46

Sources in the contracting firms said that Oman’s ambitious national railway is likely to use diesel engines for trains, instead of an earlier proposal for electric traction. This could be in line with other GCC countries’ plans to go in for diesel locomotive for their railway network, Times of Oman has reported. However, when contacted, a senior official of Oman Rail Company (ORC) declined to comment on the power option before the government for the prestigious 2,244 km-long national railway project.
