Eng. Jamal T. Aziz, the chief executive of Oman’s Freezone Sohar has said the free zone is set to start work on its second phase expansion, following the positive response to its first phase development of 500 hectares, Times of Oman has reported. As many as 23 firms have committed to set up their manufacturing or logistics centre within the Sohar free zone, Aziz said. The first two phases are part of a master plan to develop around 4,500 hectares in four phases. “The total value of investment of these projects is around half a billion dollar,” he said.
