After meeting a delegation from Riffa and the Southern Municipal Council Bahrain, King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa issued directives to start planning a multi-million dinar theme park in a historic valley between east and west Riffa. The project in Hunninyah Valley is estimated to cost around BD20m and could feature a snowboard arena, high-tech virtual reality rides, a go-karting track and a bowling. However, the Municipalities and Urban Planning Affairs Ministry has to first list the government-owned property as municipal land before the project is approved. It has also submitted a request to the government seeking BD3m from the $10bn GCC Development Programme to fund part of the project.
