A Bahraini delegation, headed by eGovernment Authority (eGA) CEO Mr. Mohammed Ali Al-Qaed, participates at the forum and award ceremony for the United Nations Public Service Day, being held in South Korea from 23rd to 26th June 2014.
In addition to Al-Qaed, Bahraini representatives include Health Ministry Training and Planning Assistant Undersecretary Dr. Hala Ibrahim Al-Mehza’; eGA eService & Channel Enhancement Director Ahmed Mohammed Buhazza and eService & Channel Enhancement Assistant Director Maher Abdulrahman Al Khan; Health Ministry Project Manager Sayed Habib and Change Management team member in I-Seha Isa Ajlan; along with eGA Senior Program Coordinator Lamya Hasan.
This visit comes in line with the recent H.R.H. Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier official visit to South Korea in 2012, where the relationship between Bahrain and South Korea grew stronger resulting in signing agreements of critical projects, initiating various visits, experience-exchange along with exploring potential joint ventures between both countries.
The delegates participated on the official opening of the event entitled ‘Innovation and eGovernance for Sustainable Development’. The highly-esteemed event brought together numerous VIPs and keynote speakers at the opening; some of which included Korean Minister of Public Administration and Security (MOPAS) Minister Byungkyu Kang; United Nations Division for Public Economics and Public Administration Governance Systems and Institutions Adviser Mr. John-Mary Kauzya who gave a speech on behalf of Ban Ki-moon Secretary-General of the United Nations; in addition Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform of Ireland Mr. Brendan Howlin. Former Prime Minister of Malaysia Tun Dr. Mahatir bin Mohammed will deliver an inaugural keynote speech about the transformation of Malaysia and the use of ICT in development.
AlQaed and Dr. AlMehza’ held a number of meetings with the ministers and key officials to discuss the latest bilateral cooperation.
Furthermore, AlQaed had a television interview with the Korean channel Airang that took place in Korea yesterday to discuss the Kingdom’s advancements and the organization of last year’s United Nations Public Service Day event that was held in Bahrain last June. The CEO also praised the strong partnership and collaboration between both nations as well as the organization of this year’s event in Korea which was outstanding and at a high-level of excellence. He further touched upon the aspect of attaining transparency, revealing that the Kingdom created the National Suggestions and Complaints System ‘Tawasul’ to enhance the coordination and transparency among government authorities in Bahrain.
As for Al-Qaed, he will take part at a ministerial roundtable session at the end of the expert group meeting. Furthermore, the eGovernment Authority delegation is participating in a winning projects exhibition that showcases the winning projects of modern systems; Bahrain will showcase the eServices offered to Bahrain’s citizens and residents via the various channels, including the National Contact Centre (NCC) which was awarded first place amongst the Western Asia countries within the ‘Promoting Whole of Government Approaches in the Information Age’ category of the 2014 United Nations Public Service Awards.
The National Health Information System (I-SEHA) was also ranked second place winner amongst the Western Asia countries for the category of ‘Improving the Delivery of Public Services’. The Ministry of Health is showcasing the I-SEHA project with its unified rays, laboratories, picture archiving, scheduling of appointments and electronic transfer of all government hospitals and health centers. The system provides high-quality of health services to ensure a better life in accordance with Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.
Additionally, Mr. Buhazza will deliver a presentation on the National Contact Center project which provides integral, government eServices in the Kingdom through 8000 8001 that goes in line with the highest quality standards. His presentation within the first workshop ‘Innovation and eGovernance for Sustainable Development’ will also be followed by discussions.
H.H. Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister Chairman Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology received in his office at the Gudaibiya Palace at the end of last month, H.E. Eng. Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed Minister of Transportation along with Al-Qaed on the occasion of winning the award for the National Contact Center (NCC) initiative and the National Health Information System (I-SEHA). His Highness applauded the efforts of the ministries and authorities in the Kingdom for their contributions towards achieving higher scores in such prestigious award.
