Bahrain Financing Company (BFC), the Kingdom’s oldest and most reputed money transfer and foreign exchange group has donated BD4,000 to Dreams Society, a Bahrain founded charity with the mission of bringing joy to children affected by terminal illness or a debilitating disease by making their dreams come true.
Dreams Society was launched in 2011 and is governed by 11 board members, and supported by more than 30 society members. The society meets with children between the ages of 5-9 years who are being treated at Salmaniya Hospital for illnesses including cancer, cystic fibrosis, cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy to find out what their dreams are and how they can turn these dreams into reality.
The charity organises monthly events and parties for the children, as well as fulfilling their dreams which can include arranging for a child to be a doctor for the day, buying them an iPad, taking them to Ferrari World or arranging for them to meet their favourite Arabic actors.
Dr. Hala Abdul-Wahab, Board Member, Dreams Society elaborated on the charity by saying, “Children who are ill should have the same opportunity to experience joy and delight as all children. Indeed the dignity, courage and patience that they display, despite their pain and suffering, makes fulfilling their treasured dreams even more special. Making a dream come true for a terminally or seriously ill child will not just brighten their life, but is also a gift that their parents and family will treasure forever.”
She went on to comment about BFC’s recent donation, “It is believed that hope, happiness and excitement help a child through recovery. We trust BFC are as happy as we are, to bring a smile to the faces of these children and hope in their lives. We are grateful that BFC is assisting us by providing a generous donation of BD4,000 to help make the dreams of these children come true. The society is truly thankful for their generosity.”
Mr. Ebrahim Nonoo, Managing Director and CEO, BFC, also commented, “It gives me great pleasure to support such a worthy cause and to bring happiness to the lives of these children and their families. BFC lives by its values of Care, Trust and Efficiency and through these values we aim to help communities and charities, such as Dreams Society, make a difference to those in need. We applaud the work of the Dreams Society and are proud to have partnered with them.”
Founded in 1917, BFC serves the needs of residents in Bahrain who wish to remit money overseas or buy or sell foreign exchange. In addition to supporting local charities, it is committed to giving back to the communities of its customers and is a regular proud sponsor of community events in Bahrain.
