As part of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) Lebanon 2013, and in line with Endeavor’s mission to support role model entrepreneurs for the next generation, four Endeavor Lebanon High-Impact Entrepreneurs presented inspirational talks to students of the American University of Beirut (AUB), at the university’s Maamari and Charles Hostler auditoriums.
On November 18th and 28th, over 100 students and professors from the business school and the faculty of engineering and architecture listened to the talks given by Elie Habib (founder of music streaming mobile application Anghami), Brahms Chouity (founder of the Arab world’s largest gaming news website At7addak.com), Jad Khoury (founder of digital printing and marketing production company Printworks) and Marc Dfouni (co-founder of digital marketing agency Eastline Marketing).
The entrepreneurs shared with the students their experiences, the challenges the students should expect if they chose to become entrepreneurs, and some creative solutions and techniques they could apply to potential problems. They also introduced their businesses and explained how they developed and grew them from the startup stage through to the successful companies they are today. Students in the audience were invited to address questions to the speakers, all of which were answered with rich insights and valuable advice by the entrepreneurs. The students had the opportunity to have one-on-one conversations with the entrepreneurs, to seek and receive guidance and counsel, at a cocktail reception held on-campus.
” Endeavor and the Endeavor Lebanon Entrepreneurs will continue building links based on talent, knowledge sharing and role models with local universities, in order to inspire and guide Lebanese students to consider entrepreneurship as a real career alternative. Similar events will be planned in the future with other local universities, aiming both to give students advice about entrepreneurship and help Endeavor Entrepreneurs recruit top local graduates “, said Tarek Sadi, Managing Director of Endeavor Lebanon.
AUB supported the initiative in an effort to illuminate the way for students interested in entrepreneurship and help them understand the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Lebanon. “I hope that our students were able to take advantage of those invaluable encounters with some of the country’s most active entrepreneurs, and that they found their stories inspiring and advice beneficial for their future career paths”, said Dr. Antoine Sabbagh, director of the undergraduate student services and alumni relations at the Suliman S. Olayan School of Business.
This is the second AUB-hosted event of which Endeavor Lebanon Entrepreneurs take part. Earlier this year, Nemr Badine (co-founder of regional digital marketing leader Eastline Marketing), Rabih Nassar (founder of back-end cloud services provider Element^n) and Omar Onsi (founder of Voice over Internet Protocol calling service company Nymgo) attended the AUB job fair to screen and recruit the brightest students for their growing enterprises.
