Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation (MBRF) in collaboration with the Regional Office for the Arab States in United Nations Development Programme, has launched a competition for young Arab talents to design the cover of the ‘Third Arab Knowledge Report 2014: Youth and Localization of Knowledge’, released by the Foundation and the UNDP.
With the report focusing on issues related to youth, the competition is aimed at school and university students and artists. Registrations for entries to the contest will remain open until 30th August 2014, and the winner will receive a certificate of merit and cash award of AED 5,000.
Announcing the competition, H.E. Jamal Bin Huwaireb, Managing Director of MBRF, said: “The MBRF joint initiative with the United Nations Development Programme, highlights the Foundation’s keen efforts to encourage creativity and innovation among Arab youth by providing them with effective platforms to showcase their talents. The contest to design the cover page of the Third Arab Knowledge Report, which deals with issues concerning Arab youth, is an effort to recognize the artistic capabilities of the young people in this region.”
Dr. Ghaith Fraiz, Director of the Arab Knowledge Report of the United Nations Development Programme, said: “As a joint initiative of MBRF and the UNDP, this contest is expected to attract wide participation from young Arab artists. Contributions are expected to reflect the most important messages of the Third Arab Knowledge Report, particularly with regard to effective integration of Arab youth in knowledge transfer and localization. This contest shall contribute to raising community awareness on these issues which are important development priorities in the Arab region.”
According to the terms and conditions of the contest, the cover design must represent the objectives and content of the report as well as reflect Arab identity. Applicants are required to send their designs to the email address [email protected]
The “Arab Knowledge Report 2014″ addresses the vital issue of achieving the efficient integration of the Arab youth in the processes of transfer and localization of knowledge, through a deep understanding of the importance of knowledge especially in bringing about a sustainable development that provides increased opportunities for the youth, and unleashes their creativity in all fields. The Report also provides a comprehensive look over the status of the Arab youth and their abilities and effectiveness in cognitive, cultural and economic terms, and the enabling environments that are available.
In this regard, the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation is collaborating with the United Nations Development Programme for the issuance of the “Arab Knowledge Report” with the aim of shedding the light on the processes of building the knowledge society in the Arab world, achieving sustainable development, and enhancing the dignity and pride of the Arab individuals.
