Procter & Gamble (P&G) has partnered with The Angel Appeal charity to bring holiday cheer to seafarers in the UAE’s largest port. As part of the company’s commitment to local communities, thirty P&G employees collected, packaged and distributed 240 care packages to seafarers at Jebel Ali Port this Ramadan.
The packages contained soaps, razors, deodorants, shampoo, conditioner and toothpaste from a range of P&G’s best known brands as well as Angel Appeal t-shirts.
The packs which were distributed by P&G employees with support from DP World were a gesture of gratitude to the seafarers who spend months at a time at sea to bring to us almost every imported item that we use in our daily lives.
“We are grateful to the seafaring community for their efforts to help us touch and improve the lives for the consumers in the region. This care package is one such initiative by P&G which will enable communities such as the seafarers to have access to quality products to improve their health and well-being whilst at sea. We would also like to thank our partners, The Angel Appeal and DP World, who enabled us to make this deserving contribution,” said Alex Malouf, Communications Manager for the Arabian Peninsula at Procter & Gamble.
Supported by the Al Maktoum foundation, The Angel Appeal is a UAE maritime charity that provides assistance to thousands of seafarers every year. The organisation behind the Angel Appeal is UK-based charity The Mission to Seafarers, which began working on behalf of seafarers in the UAE back in 1962.
