Sasol, the international integrated energy and chemical company, has announced it has taken Silver sponsorship of the Qatar CSR Report 2013. The Report reflects the increasing importance of sustainable development, and is an indicator of the economic and social growth in the State of Qatar.
Marjo Louw, President of Sasol Qatar said: “Inspired by the Qatar National Vision 2030, Sasol aims to positively impact Qatari society through its range of CSR activities and aims to help contribute towards the fulfilment of human, social, economic and environmental development. As such, it is natural that we would sponsor this important report highlighting the developments being made towards sustainable development in Qatar”.
General Manger of QatarCSR, the publisher of the report, Mr. Khalifa Al-Mohannadi said, “Sasol has played a vital role in the social responsibility field in which it has broadly contributed to Qatar’s development. In Qatar, Sasol works with government organizations, industry organizations, relevant NGOs, local associations and community leaders”.
“Sasol’s ‘Definitely Able’ campaign is a signature CSR initiative that highlights the positive contribution and possibilities for people living with disabilities in Qatar and focuses on what one can accomplish regardless of their disabilities”, He added. “This is just one example of how Sasol is contributing well beyond economic returns to the future of Qatar”.
Another example worth mentioning is the first of its kind smartphone application, “Qatar e-Nature”, which highlights the rich diversity of Qatar’s environment, including detailed information and pictures of hundreds of fascinating plants, insects and birds as well as sounds of native and migratory birds.
Sasol Qatar has developed the app in partnership with Friends of the Environment Centre (FEC), supporting the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030 to promote sustainable development by contributing towards an environmentally aware population.
The user friendly app includes a number of interactive features aimed at increasing awareness of the great nature of Qatar, among all age groups in society.
Qatar University is the strategic partner of the Report. Ras Laffan Community Outreach Program (RLIC-COP) is a Diamond Sponsor and the Gold sponsors are ExxonMobil and Ooredoo. Companies extended their support by providing Silver Sponsorship include QAPCO, QAFCO, and QAFAC. The Bronze sponsors are Shell, AlKhaliji Bank and Qatar International Islamic Bank.
