Sharjah approves higher budget for 2014

The government of Sharjah has approved a Dhs15.4bn ($4.2bn) budget plan for 2014, up nearly 7% from Dhs14.5bn last year, Gulf News has reported. About 47% of total expenditure was allocated to the economy, which includes several of Sharjah vital segments transport, airports and civil aviation, as well as tourism, among others, while the services sector has been allocated 16%. The infrastructure sector was allocated 26% of the expenditure, while social development including health and education services was allocated 11%.
