Bank Sohar joined hands with the College of Banking and Financial Studies (CBFS) for the fifth consecutive year in organizing their annual open day. The event took place recently at the college premises in Boushar. The event was held under the patronage of H.E Sulayem Bin Ali al Hikmani, chairman of economic and finance committee, Majlis A’Shura and was attended by large number of students.
Commenting on the Bank’s sponsorship of the event, Ms. Munira Abdulnabi Macki, DGM HR & Corporate Support noted, “CBFS is one of the premier educational institutions in the Sultanate, and we have the utmost confidence on the quality of graduates produced by the institution. The theme of this year Open Day was ‘Bridging Culture’ and as a result the event was abuzz with many academic, social and art activities including folklore dance and music, a cultural village, career fair, poetry recitation, quizzes, food and a charity market (souk) selling Omani products made by local small and medium enterprises. The college also organised workshops and competitions on photography and documentary films. Also Bank Sohar stall was available in the event were representatives from the Bank showcased Bank Sohar products and services. The event concluded with a closing ceremony where the College honoured the Bank for its generous sponsorship of the event for the past five years.
Bank Sohar has since its inception been strongly committed to the growth of education and development programs in Oman. Further to partnering with one of the most prestigious educational institutes in the Sultanate, such as the CBFS, Bank Sohar also regularly interacts with students and shares exclusive industry insights and trends. The Bank also organizes various training programs and seminars for students and staff at its dedicated Learning Centre in Qurum.
The College of Banking and Financial Studies is an Omani government institution that was established by Royal Decree in 1983 and operates under the juristic supervision of the Central Bank of Oman. The primary objective of the CBFS is to educate and train young bankers and suitably prepare them for a career in the fields of banking, finance and economic research. The open day provided an opportunity for the CBFS students to take part in a number of stimulating activities, and also provided for a fun environment where the students could take the opportunity to relax and network in a social environment.
