The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) ushered in the new academic year by hosting a Faculty Orientation Day to welcome new faculty members and familiarize everyone with the university’s vision and programs.
John Ryder, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, while welcoming new faculty members, briefed the gathering on the university’s growth path and academic initiatives. He also spoke about the new programs launched by the university, as part of the strategy to raise its profile in UAE’s academic arena.
During the day-long program, faculty members interacted with one another meet one, and availed of the opportunity to meet campus leadership and network with colleagues from different programs, departments and schools within the university.
The highlight of the day was a detailed discussion on academic issues, including expectations and opportunities in teaching, research and scholarship, service to the university and community, advising, faculty and program evaluation, and professional development. In addition, there were presentations by several offices of the university, including the Library, the Registrar, Student Life, IT, CER, Human Resources and Logistics. The day ended with a reception for the current faculty and staff.
