The Mathematics Unit at the American University of Dubai (AUD) will be hosting the 12th UAE Math Day on Saturday, April 19th, 2014 in the Engineering Building at AUD.
The UAE Math Day is a conference that aims at bringing together mathematicians from UAE and surrounding areas to a forum in which they can exchange research ideas in different branches of mathematics, and communicate recent developments in mathematical research and education. The conference presentations cover a variety of topics, from pure and applied Mathematics to Mathematics education.
This years’ conference will see two keynote speakers in attendance. Professor Gerda de Vries from the University of Alberta, Canada, who is Professor and Associate Chair (Undergraduate) in the Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences, and Professor Ayman Badawi, a Professor at the Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences at the American University of Sharjah.
Commenting on the upcoming event, Dr. Haitham S. Solh, Associate Professor of Mathematics at AUD says: “We can’t stress enough the importance of this annual tradition for AUD and the UAE mathematics community in general. The conference will create multiple opportunities for collaboration between AUD and the various universities attending, and will provide AUD faculty members, as well as interested students, with a chance to stay up-to-date with recent developments in Mathematics research and education.”
This year, more than 100 Mathematicians and Mathematics educators will gather at AUD for the 12th edition of this conference. Registration is officially open. The deadline for abstract submissions is March 22, 2014 while participants wishing to register as attendees may do so until April 12, 2014.
