AUST to host the 9th IEEE UAE Student Day

Ajman University of Science & Technology is organizing the 9th session of the IEEE Student Day at its main campus on Saturday, 10th May 2014. IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) is the world’s largest professional association for the advancement of technology.

The IEEE UAE Day is an annual event in which all major universities in the UAE participate. This prestigious event is organized by IEEE UAE Section with active support from IEEE Student Branch Counselors from all participating institutions.

Dr. Fahr Hayati, Dean, College of Engineering remarked, “We are proud to host this day at our campus, the preparations have been underway for months and we look forward to a great successful event. The IEEE UAE student day holds a great value for all engineering students and staff alike. By welcoming other universities we bolster our ties as the engineering fraternity of the UAE.”

He went on to explain, “The College of Engineering always supports its students and their initiatives, all ideas are entertained and encouraged by the faculty members. An environment of innovation is fostered to ensure the students are productive and efficient in their studies and projects. Moreover, this year will witness a remarkable turnout as the submitted entries of projects have surpassed the previous years’ count.”

He reiterated, “At AUST our students have utilized the latest technology at hand to accomplish projects that serve the community at large. The humanitarian spirit instilled in the values of our goals have been embodied in the projects being submitted by Ajman University.”

This annual event encourages research and provides a platform for an innovative challenge to the engineering students. The College of Engineering at AUST also proudly houses the largest WIE (Women in Engineering) an extension of IEEE which supports female engineers.

Engineering, IT, and Computer Science students from all major higher educational institutions in the UAE, will compete for 15 prizes in the following five categories of projects:
1.Common Design Project
2.Engineering Design Project
3.Senior Design Project
4.Software Engineering Project
5.Community Service Project.
