Cooperation in education sector discussed between Yemen and UNICEF

Minister of Education Dr. Abdul-Razaq al-Ashwal held a meeting with Education Director of UNICEF in Sana’a Mohammed Ben Bella on Thursday, and discussed the cooperation between Yemen and the organization in the education sector, Yemen News Agency reported. The two officials agreed to launch the Global Partnership Program for Education in Yemen by the middle of next month. They also dealt with mechanisms to implement the program of enrolling kids who are out of school in education, which is funded by the Global Partnership for Education with an amount of $ 21 million under the supervision of UNICEF and includes the construction of 500 classrooms in areas suffering from low enrollment. Furthermore, the two sides discussed activating and building the capacity of parents, student and teachers councils in one thousand schools, expanding the reading ability program in 500 schools, supporting the existing programs that target children in the age of “10-14″ years as well as the implementation of outreach campaigns aim at enrolling children out of school in education.
