Due to the overwhelming number of applications received by Hamad bin Khalifa University (HBKU) for admission to the Translation and Interpreting Institute’s (TII) Master in Translation Studies (MATS) and in Audiovisual Translation (MAAT), TII will now offer a second deadline of March 8, 2014 for application submission.
The Master in Translation Studies is a two-year program designed to train highly skilled translators from different private sectors, as well as translation for international organizations. The program focuses primarily on the translation of written documents and offers courses in translation technologies and research methodologies.
TII is also launching a new Master in Audiovisual Translation (MAAT) offering in the Fall of 2014. A two- year program, the MAAT offers students a varied curriculum, including: introductory and advanced subtitling and dubbing, voice overs, and media translation. The program also teaches students subtitling for the hearing impaired, audio-description for the visually impaired, and the selection and adaptation of translation technologies for the needs of different language communities.
Applicants are required to submit university transcripts, English proficiency test reports, proof of proficiency in an additional language, two references, a detailed résumé (CV), a copy of their passport and a personal statement.
Admission is highly competitive, with all applications must be received by March 8, 2014.
