Hamad bin Khalifa University (HBKU), a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, has launched a second admissions cycle for the Translation and Interpreting Institute’s (TII) Master of Arts in Audiovisual Translation (MAAT). TII is now accepting online applications for applicants wishing to begin their studies in the MAAT in September 2014.
A two- year program, the MAAT offers students a varied curriculum, including: introductory and advanced subtitling and dubbing, voice-over, and media translation. The program also teaches students subtitling for the hearing impaired, audio-description for the visually impaired, and the selection and adaptation of translation technologies for the needs of different language communities.
Applicants are required to submit university transcripts, English proficiency test reports, proof of proficiency in one of TII’s working languages (Arabic, French, or Spanish), two references, a detailed résumé, and a copy of their passport. Applicants are also required to complete a personal statement, where they will have the opportunity to discuss their interest in the program, and how their personal and professional experiences and achievements have prepared them for successful postgraduate study in audiovisual translation.
TII invites engaged and diligent individuals to submit their applications by July 9, 2014.
