Qatar-Finland International School (Q.F.I. School) will host a launch event on Tuesday August 19, 2014 at 4pm at Hilton Doha. All parents, educators, journalists and persons interested in outstanding education are warmly welcome to meet the Q.F.I. School staff, to find out more about the school and the Finnish education in the presence of officials from the Supreme Education Council (SEC).
Qatar-Finland International School is a primary school for girls and boys aged 5-7. The Q.F.I. School will start with the pre-school level and grades 1 and 2 for the academic year 2014-2015. Q.F.I. School provides world-class education, fusing the best educational practices from Finland to the Qatari context.
“For us the child comes first — always,” says Q.F.I School Principal Juha Repo in a statement. “Our job as educators is not to think about school rankings and test scores, but to support the development of each and every one of our students. We believe that the best way to provide high-quality education is through joy of learning.”
The main language of instruction is English and language support will be provided for non-native English speakers especially in the early years. All students study also Arabic language. The teachers responsible for the Finnish curriculum are from Finland, all holding Master’s Degrees in education.
Qatar-Finland International School was established under the Supreme Education Council’s Outstanding Schools Programme, part of Qatar’s ongoing educational reform, Education for a New Era, through which the State of Qatar is building a world class education system to achieve Qatar National Vision 2030.
