Qatar’s Ras Laffan Emergency and Safety College (RLESC) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Qatar Petroleum (QP) and the University of New Haven, under which it will start offering diplomas and a four-year bachelor degree in fire safety management and fire protection engineering, Gulf Times has reported. As part of the agreement, a study plan is expected to be published in the second quarter of 2014, and the academic studies are planned to start by September 2014. In the initial phase, RLESC will offer training and courses in fire emergency and safety, industrial fire-fighting, search and rescue, hazardous materials, emergency medical services and civil defence and aviation, while additional courses in health, safety and environment, public safety and business continuity will further enrich its subject list at a later stage.
